Discover where the decisive Battle of the Boyne took place with this tour that also includes a visit around the historic area of Belfast, the beautiful capital of Northern Ireland.
We will meet up in front of Custom House in Dublin to board the bus and head north. After a 60-minute journey, we will make our first stop at the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre.
1 July 1690 saw the troops of James II facing against the army of William the Orange. To get a better understanding of the background, events, and consequences of this armed conflict, we will watch a documentary about the Battle of Boyne. At the conclusion of the film, we then visit an exhibition about the conflict, where you will see the different weapons used by the adversaries.
We continue the trip, crossing the border between Ireland and the UK, to the city of Belfast. Our tour of Northern Ireland’s capital starts in the area of Queen´s University, which is replete with historic buildings. We will then also visit the nearby picturesque Botanic Gardens. Just at the back of these large parks is Ulster Museum, where we will visit the exhibitions of numerous objects relating to the history of Northern Ireland. Among these items are various artifacts from Spanish Armada boats which sank off the coast of Northern Ireland.
You will have your own free time to have lunch in the university campus. After eating, we will enjoy a panoramic tour of Belfast. We will immerse ourselves in the complex history of the city during the 20th Century, exploring the districts which are home to the famous political murals and Stormont Parliament. We will also make a stop in the shipyard area where the transatlantic Titanic was constructed.
The panoramic tour will conclude in front of Belfast City Hall, another of the political city center icons. We then finally start our return to Dublin.
